Commander’s Comments

Well, here I am back at the helm after a hiatus of eight years. Things and personnel have changed over the years and I have to get acclimated to them. Our June meeting went fairly well and many things were discussed. I was presented with a few “take care of this” items. I realized that commands were going the wrong direction. I plan on correcting this. If you would like to know what we discussed and passed, please feel free to attend the July meeting and the Adjutant will be reading the minutes of the June meeting. Since QM Lavern Terbl, Adjutant Jerry Hinton and myself will be at the National Convention in Pittsburgh in July, our meeting will be directed by Senior Vice Commander Buddy Priest. Buddy will be needing an Officer of the Day and an Adjutant. Please volunteer. As you notice on the calendar we’ll be conducting two programs in July, please try to attend. As always I am glad to serve the post and help you in any way that I can. God bless.

Chaplain’s Comments

The month of June 2015 has been another tough month for losing members and friends. Bill Jackson, VFW member and Mason Halley, VFW MAUX member went to their heavenly home. They will be deeply missed and their families need our love and prayers. These losses reminded me of a song by the Hollies, which in part, goes like this:

“The road is long with many a winding turn. That leads us to who knows where, who knows when. But I’m strong enough to carry him. He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother……”

We can all carry these families. God blesses everyone, may He bless you more.

Ladies Auxiliary President’s Comments

Thanks everyone who attended the meeting last month. We passed several important motions including raising membership dues from $25 to $40 effective Jan 16th, 2016. This was necessary based on increases in Dept and National dues and our cancer insurance policy premium. Membership dues notices have been mailed. The first 50 who pay their dues will be entered into a drawing for a free life membership. Consider becoming a life member. Life member fees are printed on the back of this newsletter.

We purchased a deep fryer for the post’s kitchen last month and made a donation to Greater Days of Service. We also leased a storage unit for the upcoming Labor of Love garage sale to be held Sun, Sep 6th. If you have items to donate we can take them now. Please call 972-849-5697 for more information.

Thanks everyone who signed up to cook on Wed and 3rd Sat dinners. I greatly appreciate your help.

Our Americanism Chairman, Priscilla McMurry, will hold a July 4th program at the flagpoles on Sat, Jul 4th at 10 am. Priscilla is asking everyone to decorate their golf carts for a parade and judging following the program.

I will be attending the National Convention in Pittsburgh this month and will keep you posted on any significant changes to our by-laws or other policies.

There are simply no words to express my heartfelt thanks for the sympathy everyone extended toward our family during this time of loss. Mason Halley was most precious to our family. Thank you for honoring his memory. On behalf of my family, I offer you our most sincere gratitude and love.

Men’s Auxiliary President’s Comments

The MAUX continues to assist local lot owners with their lot needs and have two more scheduled once the weather clears. This has been a success due to local contributions from long term supporters of MAUX. MAUX draped their charter in memory of Mason Halley, please keep him and his family in your prayers.
