We installed our 2016-2017 Auxiliary Officers as published last month. Sadly, we draped the charter for member Judy Hanna that recently passed away.
Our State Convention is in Dallas, Jun 16-19 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. The Joint Meeting will be held from 1-4pm on Thu, Jun 16. The Auxiliary Meeting is 8am-4pm on both Fri and Sat, Jun 17-18. If you are interested in attending the State Convention please let me know.
Our annual Auxiliary Training is in Austin at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Jul 8-9. If you haven’t already done so, please let me know if you plan on attending this training so we can get you registered. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. On Fri, Jul 8, the afternoon training session is for President, Secretary and Treasurer. On Sat, Jul 9, starting at 8:30am is the main training session. You would probably want to drive down Friday night, Jul 8, to be present for the 8:30am training session on Sat. We’re having a cake walk on Jul 1 to help pay for the hotel rooms. Please consider donating your favorite cake or dessert to help us pay for hotel rooms for those members wanting to attend.
We favorably motioned to donate to the Dist 1 Hospitality Room for the upcoming State Convention and also to the Lakeway UMC, Pottsboro Great Days of Service project.
We need cooks for 3rd Saturday dinners. Based on several suggestions from members, with the promise we’d get more volunteer cooks, we motioned to change the “some kinda chicken dinner” to “chef’s choice”, not to exceed $150 in expenses. There are only eleven 3rd Saturdays to cook as in December we don’t cook on the 3rd Saturday. We’ve already filled two slots. Please consider taking one of the other nine Saturdays to cook for 30-40 people at $10 per plate. We would need you to tell Lori what you are cooking a few weeks in advance so she can put it on the calendar. For our Wed night taco dinners…thank you Jan Vogelsang for doing the shopping, and Brenda Jones and Nancy Yantes for preparing the taco meat in advance and everyone who volunteered to take a Wed. We need just a few more volunteers to setup and serve the tacos, approx. 3 hrs. time, on Wed nights. Thank you Tammy Cathey for taking on the responsibility of scheduling area road clean up. Tammy will let us know the date. Volunteers will be needed to help with this project.
