Commander’s Comments

I’m proud to be serving VFW Post 7873 as commander for the upcoming year. I would like to congratulate all the new officers.

To start off with, we have a nap pig roast scheduled for July 3rd down on the slab at 2pm but if it’s too hot or there’s a chance of rain we’ll move it inside. If attending, please bring a side dish in a disposable container. BluRock Band will play from 4-8pm.

Please check the calendar as we do have several important programs and events this month.

We have some awesome bands coming up in the future. In August the Bullwinkle’s will be back and the Rafter Burners again in September.

I’m looking forward to an exciting year. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me.

Chaplain’s Comments

The world looks at successful people and thinks they have it all.  But what is true success?  Health is not the greatest profit because you can lose it so easily.  Success does not lay in our possessions, wealth or standard of living because they are all temporary.  Our success lays in having GOD in our lives.  Our most valuable possession is Jesus Christ in our hearts.  All else will fade away, but an intimate relationship with GOD will last forever.  God blesses everyone…..may He bless you more.  Should you need me, I can be reached at 903-814-8058.

Auxiliary President’s Comments

Thanks everyone who attended the June meeting. Sadly we draped our charter for sister Ann Embry who passed away on June 17th.

I greatly appreciate all of you who volunteered to cook on taco nights and 3rd Saturdays! We have filled the first half of the year for 3rd Saturdays, we still need to fill January-June.

We voted to send care packages to military members Austin James and Craig Ellis who are deployed overseas.

Jose Casado gave an update on the Memorial Park Project. A total of 83 bricks were sold and additional bricks purchased in memory of past commanders. The benches and plants in place look good. Great job to everyone involved in this project!

We’ll hold a cakewalk on Friday, July 1st, at 5:30pm to raise money to purchase an additional hotel room for members to attend the upcoming auxiliary training session July 8-9 in Austin. We need your donations of cakes or other baked goods and of course your participation to make this a successful event.

Don’t forget about our program and decorating your golf carts for Independence Day. We’ll all meet at the flagpoles at 10am on Monday the 4th. After a short program we’ll parade around the neighborhood in our carts, do a drive-by the post for judging, including prizes, then meet on the back deck of the post for watermelon. Thank you Priscilla McMurry for putting this and all of our programs together!

Jan Vogelsang and her sister Marcy Harrelson will receive their 50-Year Auxiliary Pins at our next meeting on July 16th. Everyone please try to attend to congratulate these ladies on their 50 years of service to the Auxiliary!

Our Auxiliary Call Meeting will be held in Greenville on Sunday, July 17th. This is an important meeting as we discuss our programs and goals for the coming year. Please contact me if you’re interested in attending this meeting.

I look forward to a productive auxiliary year with all of you! We’re a great team and do a great job supporting our post and our veterans. Thank you!

Note from the Treasurer

Per National Auxiliary guidelines, if you did not pay your 2015-2016 dues, you are no longer a member and will need to reapply should you consider rejoining the Auxiliary.  There is no longer a reinstate category.  Dues notices for 2016-2017 will be mailed this month.  Dues are now $40 per year (1 July-30 June).  You may want to consider purchasing a life membership as the life fees are expected to double in the next year.
