Commander’s Comments

This summer has flown by so quickly and what a fun and exciting year we’ve had so far at our Post.

We have several events planned for Labor Day weekend. The Auxiliary is having a food auction on Fri, Sep 2nd starting at 6pm. Details of the auction are on the reverse calendar side. On Sat, Sep 3rd, we’re having a garage sale and vendors are also welcome to attend. Cost per table is $25.00 and you keep all the funds made at your table. We still have tables if you’re interested. There will be food available for purchase in the morning and afternoon at the garage sale. The awesome Rafter Burners Band will be playing on Sun, Sep 4th from 7:30-11:30pm. Come out and support your Post this holiday weekend.

Our post is looking very nice. The memorial at the top of the hill by the flagpoles and grounds around them are well kept and the campground and beach area is kept clean and picked up. I would like to thank the committees, the house, lot and memorial park committees for everything they have done, thank you all so very much. Thanks Jeff James for installing the speaker on the back deck, it’s good to have music playing out there now.

We desperately need cooks for Fri nights and Sun breakfasts. Please contact Frank Mamry of the house committee if you can help.

We have several key events coming up…the Halloween Party on Sat, Oct 29th and Operation Welcome Home/Take-A-Soldier Fishing is scheduled for Nov 18-20. I’ll keep you posted on the details.

Thanks everyone for your continued support.

Remember—you are the Crown of God’s Creation—

God loves you and accepts you with the full knowledge of all your failures. You don’t have to meet certain standards to qualify for

God’s acceptance and love. He declares your worth regardless of your accomplishments or image. You are the most valuable being in the universe, not because you are cute or good, but because you are the Crown of God’s Creation.

God blesses everyone…..may He bless you more. Should you need me, I can be reached at 903-814-8058.

Auxiliary President’s Comments

Thanks everyone who attended the meeting last month. Thank you Julie Tarver for filling in for me while I was attending the Dist 1 meeting.

I welcome all new members. Our membership is growing and most are joining as life members. Now is the time to purchase a life membership. Life membership fees will increase by 15% on Jan 1st, 2017.

On Fri, Sep 2nd, the Auxiliary voted to hold a food auction to raise additional funds needed to help pay for the new kitchen sprinkler system the Post had to replace. Details of the auction are printed on the top of the calendar.

Brenda Jones discussed the garage sale on Sat, Sep 3rd, from 7am to 4pm and that tables are still available for purchase for $25 for those selling both garage sale items and vendor specialty items. The $25 will be given to the Post and those selling items will keep all their proceeds. All participants will be required to haul their own items in and out of the Post. You can set up the night before. Registration forms are available at the bar or contact Brenda for more information. Food will be available for purchase during the garage sale.

Priscilla McMurry informed us that we’re required to have a cancer awareness fundraiser as directed by our state program guidance. We agreed upon prostate cancer and will hold a benefit soon for this cause.

Ways and Means raffle tickets and pins are on sale now. Funds raised from these items go to our Dept office to help them with office supplies and other overhead costs.

We discussed ways in which we could help with the Louisiana flood disaster and it was suggested we research the possibility of sending materials, funds or food, and review options at our next meeting.

Jose Casado asked that we come prepared at the next meeting with fundraising ideas. He stated we need to increase our revenues to keep pace with our future needs.

Kim James updated us on Austin James’ deployment and that he appreciated the cookie basket we sent to him.

Our next meeting will be held on Sat, Sep 17th. Our Dist 1 President, Pat Anderton, will be attending the meeting. Please try to attend and show your support to her.

I sincerely appreciate all of you. Thanks for all you do to make our Auxiliary successful.
